do-you-loveThis might seem like a silly question to ask. For many, that question is going to make them feel very uncomfortable.

Are you part of the group that says, “Of Course.” Or, are you one of those who scratches their head and thinks I’ve gone off the deep end.

If either of these are you, read on.

Love is not too strong a word to use.

I really think that love is the type of word you want to use around your company. I hope you love what your company does. I hope you’re absolutely passionate about the people you serve. I hope you appreciate your employees at such a level that it would be considered love.

The best companies all have great employees. Do you think this happens by accident? I can promise you that great employees are not an accident. I can also promise you that having great employees starts with the word love.

Do you love your customers?

If you don’t love your customers and find that they’re inconvenient, what do you think your employees think about this? How can you expect your employees to give great service to your customers when you can barely tolerate the customers you expect your employees to provide great service to?

Here’s a new flash for you……If you don’t start the love in your company, there won’t be any company to love. It has to come from you, if it’s to be there at all.

Why United Airlines can’t get out of their own way.

I fly way too much. Most of the time I fly on United. I used to think they were pretty good. Lately, I’ve noticed that their service level keeps dropping, no matter how many cool things or apps they add to their planes.

The problem is United treats their employees like dirt. There seems to be little or no respect from management towards those who work on the front line. It’s no wonder that when it’s time for the front line United employees to provide great service, they just don’t bother.

The truth is management doesn’t love them so why should their employees show any love towards the passengers they come in contact with?

Great companies always start with love.

When you work for a great company you’re going to hear the word love a lot. You’re going to see it in the way they treat their employees. You’re going to see it in the way they allow their employees to go out of their way to make sure their customers are satisfied.

You’re going to hear about how much people love working for the company. You might not hear people say they love the people they work with, but you might. After all, the word love is a very charged word. One we’re told that we should use sparingly.

I think we should use the word love every opportunity we have. It makes going to work worthwhile.

Happiness for you is love for your employees.

The reason I’m writing about how important it is for you to love your employees is because I want you to be happy running your company. If you don’t love your employees, that means there are problem employees you really don’t like at all.

You spend way too much time and effort trying to turn these employees around. Wouldn’t it just be simpler if you decided that loving your employees is better than having to deal with the ones you really don’t like. Just stop hiring problem children and your life automatically gets better.

Here’s a secret I want to leave you with. Loving your employees is much more satisfying than just having employees. Give it a try, I bet you’ll find your life gets significantly better.

While you’re at it, why don’t you leave a comment below and let me know what you think?
